Viscount Lounge
The rank of Viscount (pronounced vī'kount' ) was awarded to British nobles, stationed above that of a baron, and can be traced back to as early as 1387 when it was referred to as “visconte” in Old French.
Both the British and the French traded ownership of St. Lucia fourteen times in the island’s history but it was Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount to the British Crown, who has left an indelible impression on St. Lucia. Admiral Nelson was revered and loved as one of the most skilled captains in all of naval history. Nelson’s fleet often weighed anchor is Rodney Bay between battles with the French fleet. It is said that much of the original lumber from the neighboring Pigeon Island was requisitioned to repair cannon damage to the topsides and decks of his warships.
The Viscount Lounge celebrates Nelson’s influence over Rodney Bay by offering the same elegance and character that his rank implies. We invite you to enjoy a sophisticated selection of spirits, wines and champagnes for the most discerning palate. Our menu brings samplings of canapés to caviar from around the world so that you too can have a little taste of adventure. Relax, imbibe and experience the nobility of The Viscount Lounge.
